Hey all! I’m going to start blogging about my favorite Utah photo locations. Let’s start with this gorgeous family session in American Fork Canyon!
But first let me tell you a little bit about my story. This will explain why I started location scouting so heavily. When I started photography, I noticed there were a lot of popular spots that people were shooting beautiful photos at. I really wanted my work to look as good as theirs so I figured if I went to these *magical* spots, my work would look beautiful too.
Location after location I realized these spots weren’t all they were cracked up to be. Sure there were some pretty areas BUT they were being used by 10 other photographers who were in line ahead of you. 🙄 Or if you tried to find another background nearby, you had to be strategic to crop several other groups out of your photos. I also started realizing that these spots were being heavily used in so many photographer’s work that they were starting to become boring.
I needed places that were unique and didn’t have tons of other people. Over the past year I began searching and driving and hiking. Now I have a whole guide filled with beautiful spots and I can’t wait to show some of them to you!
This one is up in American Fork Canyon. I really wanted something with mountains and aspen trees and I may have hit the jackpot. This little gem is tucked away from the road so you don’t have to worry about passer-bys staring at you getting your photos done but it’s also not too far of a walk.
If you’d like to see more examples of spots be sure to check out the family page on my website! 😊
