I’m a nature enthusiast who adores greens and wildflowers, a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a dedicated lifestyle photographer. I have loved taking photos since I was little and could handle a disposable camera. I have since perfected the art of seizing bright, candid moments that encapsulate your family’s authentic connections. I believe you deserve visuals that celebrate the splendor of your daily life while you navigate the delightful chaos of parenthood.
I’m so excited to announce a new spot I found near Riverton, Utah for family photo sessions! However, it wasn’t an easy task. I’ll first share the story of how I got there.
Flashback to last fall. I had a family session scheduled in the foothills with a family hoping for beautiful fall colors. I had been holding out hope that the location would last until my session date, without all the leaves fading away to die. Just a few days before the session I see that there’s a storm on the forecast.
I started to get frantic. It would be a huge gamble to go to the foothills now. I had to find another spot. I hurriedly made plans to take my son location scouting and spent the evening combing over possible spots I could use. I found a handful of possibilities ranging from Bluffdale to Riverton and made a route.
I had high hopes for the spots I found but came up short when one of the best possibilities was only accessible by a dirt road that looked like it had barely any use. In an attempt to make the location work, I trudged on with my car but quickly realized it was too much of a risk. I regretfully put my car into reverse and backed down the hill. I went to a couple other spots I had mapped out but ultimately came home empty handed.
I knew I had to keep searching. There was only one more morning I could scout and it needed to count. I drove to a park in Riverton and found a paved path I could push my son in his stroller. Unfortunately the weather was terrible. There was a horribly biting wind that chilled your face to the bone. I trudged along that path with my son only out of necessity.
I saw a shoot off with a short trail and decided to take a look. After a bit of weed whacking, I came up on a dead end. I was desperate. The area before the trail was decent but by that point I had pushed my stroller long enough I knew that a family wouldn’t want to go that far out of the way to get photos. I dismally turned my stroller around and headed back to the car.
When I neared the car I noticed a field on the other side of the parking lot behind a mechanical building. I took my son over and couldn’t believe my luck.
Right there, right off the parking lot was a beautiful field with tall grasses and trees that had fall colors, just what I look for in my locations. I walked around and found lots of areas that would look great for photos. By this point I was numb and I bet my son wasn’t faring too much better so I hurriedly packed up and went home.
The session went fantastic. We had a good amount of variety and the park was so accessible there weren’t any worries with session times. This location is a real gem for family photos in Riverton.
